Press Release Summary = Text Messaging competition in LA raises awareness of new cellphone tecvhnology
Press Release Body = LOS ANGELES, 27 Jan 2006 - A text messaging contest will take place at the Key Club in Los Angeles today, aimed at introducing a new and unique interactive technology to music fans.
3Screens, a mobile marketing delivery service based in San Diego, California is working in partnership with Orange County Films to promote their indie mobile music service. The launch pad for the new technology will be a concert held at the Key Club headlined by internationally renowned indie band 'Powder'. 3Screens will allow music fans at the club to take part in an interactive contest to win band-related prizes such as CDs and T-Shirts, an iPod, and even a guitar signed by the band.
3Screens was developed to build mobile interactive relationships between independent artists and their fans. The application, known as "indie2go" allows fans to use their cellphones to buy ringtones, mobile 'wallpaper' and mobile music videos and download them directly to their cellphones, portable computers or mobile video devices. The technology will even allow fans to confirm ticket purchases to shows, get the inside scoop on concerts and trendy club locations, or receive alerts when tickets go on sale.
3Screens' indie2go comes hot on the heels of a musical revolution which is changing the way artists deliver their music to the masses. The recent explosion of new technology based around cellphones, the MP3 and in particular the iPod has enabled music lovers to enjoy their favourite bands in a host of new ways, as shown by the voracious sales of ringtones and the popularity of online music sites such as MySpace, currently with 33 million users. The latest 'must-have' feature of the iPod is known as 'Podcasting' - a live feed of video or audio files placed on the internet for subscribers to watch or listen to. For indie bands, this means a new avenue to promote themselves, by allowing aired music to be delivered directly to their fans.
"Online and mobile channels have shaken up traditional music marketing", says Chantal Le Claire, co-creator of 3Screens. "In forming 3Screens, we see an opportunity to aggregate and distribute the music of indie bands that would never have the financial ability to reach their fans otherwise,"
To gain traction with the indie music scene, 3Screens partnered with Orange County Films, a production company with strong ties to the Los Angeles indie music scene. 3Screens and OCF are working closely to provide music artists emerging mobile media promotion and branding opportunities.
The launch of 3Screens' mobile music media service will be through a text messaging contest on January 27, at the Key Club in Los Angeles produced by Sean Healy Presents. The event headlines Powder, and also showcases The Almighty Grind, Elise, OffVibe, Waiting 4 Wyatt, and Amberside. Tickets can be purchased at the www.webookbands.com website or at the Key Club box office. See www.keyclub.com for details.
